Greetings to St. Joesph’s Class of 1979. February 2, 2024 marks 148 days before our departure on Carnival Sunrise cruise, June 29-July 4, 2024. If you aren’t excited, now is the time to get focused and finalize all your plans.

Here are a few key things to remember:

1. If you made a deposit through Travel Tourism (340-778-6333 or 340-719-7779, travel00823@hotmail.com), please reach out to confirm your plans. The final payment is due April 15, 2024. You have until April 10, 2024 to cancel for a full refund.
2. If you made your reservations through other means (your travel agent, Carnival, etc.), please notify Bruce and Laurie so that we can connect you to the Reunion 45 group.
3. The T-Shirt design and colors are shown below. If you would like to order a t-shirt, please send an email to beastcityvi@gmail.com and cc Laurie with your order. Payment can be made through PayPal (beastcityvi@gmail.com); Zelle (6785363355); CashApp ($Paradisettvi); Ath Movil (6785363355). T-shirts are $25.00 each. We plan to wear our t-shirts at the Bon voyage party and during the beach excursion on Grand Turk.

Greetings to St. Joesph’s Class of 1979. I can’t believe that we are 272 Days away or 39 weeks away from the Carnival Sunrise cruise, June 29-July 4, 2024. I am very excited and hope the excitement is growing. Remember the joys of everyone getting together for Reunion 40. Let’s reignite those joys and remember that we aren’t getting any younger and we need to seize these opportunities while we are able to.

I am sending this reminder email to the entire class since the planning committee wanted to be sure that everyone knew about the cruise and to let folks know that it isn’t too late to join Reunion 45.

For those of you who made deposits through the travel agent, please remember that the final payment is due on April 15, 2024. If you made a reservation outside of the travel agent, please let Laurie and/or Bruce know so that we can connect you with the Reunion 45 group. We are all at the early dinner seating on the cruise.

If you have not made a deposit but still are interested in joining us, you can either work through our travel agent, contact Carnival directly, or utilize your own travel agent. Regardless of your choice, please let Laurie and/or Bruce know.

I will send another reminder/encouragement for our classmates to join us in January. After that point, we will work on final events for the cruise and directly communicate with those traveling.

Good Morning Classmates —-

Thank you so much for your willingness to provide input in our Reunion45. Due to concerns that our initial cruise might be too expensive and possibly limiting the number of classmates that can attend, we asked for your feedback. It was very clear from the feedback that our classmates wanted a cruise but cheaper. It has been a challenge identifying a cheaper cruise but we did find one that brings the per person cost under 1500 for most people. Our single cruisers with Ocean View and Balcony rooms will pay about $200-$500 more than our goal of $1500 or less. That being said, I would encourage classmates traveling as single consider being roommates with another classmates.

Moving forward, I will be sending updates only to those that are participating in Reunion45. You can always see updates at St. Joseph Class of 1979 – Reunion 45 – Preparing for the 45th Reunion in 2024 (stjoes1979reunion.com) or on the Facebook group for the Class of 1979. If at any point, you want more info, please just reach out to me and I can add you to the updates.

Because we have changed the cruise, dates, and prices — I encourage you to do the following:

I appreciate your attention to all of these emails. We will be sending RSVPs to the travel agent after our Planning Committee Meeting on 3/26/23. We will get further directions about deposit deadline and your process for payments of the cruise.

Dear Classmates –

As of 10:00am on March 8, we only have 13 people confirmed their interest on the cruise. A few observations:

1. We had about 3-4 classmates that said no.
2. If you are traveling single — you are paying between $2234 – $3193
3. If you are traveling double — you are paying between $2538 – $3508 for your cabin
4. These prices do not include travel to Miami or any excursions that the class may want to take while on the cruise.
5. The Planning Committee is concerned that the prices may be pushing people away from Reunion45.

Considering the above challenge, the Planning Committee wants to know which of the following options work best for you:

Option 1: Stay the course with the Carnival Horizon Cruise – June 22-24, 2024.

Option 2: Identify a shorter cruise (4 or 5 nights) out of Miami and traveling to the Bahamas or Western Caribbean during the last two weeks of June. We will try to cap the cost at $1500 or less per person. Please note that if we are not able to find a cruise in this price range, this option will automatically default to Option 3.

Option 3: Plan to hold the reunion in St. Croix (7 nights) during the last two weeks of June 2024. 

Please take a moment to respond by Friday March 17^th. This will allow the Planning Committee to discuss the class preference and plan accordingly for our March Planning Committee Meeting.

Dear Classmates,

Based on the results of the survey, the class decided on a cruise from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale in mid-late June with a stop in St. Croix. We tried our best to find a cruise that stopped in St. Croix. Unfortunately, there was only one cruise that stopped in St. Croix during that time and the port of calls were St. Thomas, St. Croix, San Juan, and Cococay in the Bahamas.

The Planning Committee met on Sunday, February 26 to review the Reunion45 Survey and consider options. As the Planning Committee considered this option, we collectively felt that the ports were probably very familiar to most of us and decided against that cruise. We are working with a local travel agent on St. Croix, Travel Tourism (contact information on the PDF), who also provided an alternative, and the Planning Committee supports this cruise for Reunion45. Please see the attached information on the cruise, the group prices, and a link to Carnival Horizon for more details.

This cruise leaves Miami on Saturday, June 22 and returns on Sunday, June 30, 2024. It travels to the Southern Caribbean and stops in Aruba, Bonaire, La Romana, and Amber Cove. There are 2 days at sea traveling to Aruba and 1 day at sea traveling to Miami from the Dominican Republic.

At this moment, we are asking classmates to RSVP for the cruise, so we know how many folks plan to attend and what type of rooms they will need. Shortly, we will need to send our deposits to the travel agent. As you will notice on the PDF, there is a $500 deposit (for those traveling in a single room) or $250 per person (for those sharing a double, triple, or quad room). Payments will be made directly between you and the travel agent. More information will follow once we have received your RSVP.

The Reunion45 Planning Committee has started its planning for our Reunion45 in 2024. Most participated in the Reunion45 Survey and it was decided that we will be on a cruise from Ft. Lauderdale/Miami with a stop in St. Croix during the last two weeks of June 2024. Laurie is currently working with a travel agent to identify cruises that stop in St. Croix during that time. The Planning Committee meets next weekend and we should have some preliminary information regarding our cruise options. Look forward to seeing folks in about 16 months. Let’s start to get excited about our 45^th class reunion.
